The Sturgis Alumni Association (SAA) is a network of graduates of Sturgis Charter Public School, 2002 to present. An alumni network is nothing without well-connected alums, so follow instructions below to register today!
To join www.sturgisalumni.net, click "Register" under "Members." IMPORTANT: Your "screen name" must read: First Name Last Name and Year of Graduation (i.e. Jane Smith 01). After a quick screening process, your membership will become active! Don't forget to click on your class page and select "subscribe" to begin receiving reunion reminders via email.  Sad News for the Sturgis Community - 02/01/10
This morning the Sturgis community suffered a tremendous loss. Gretchen Buntschuh, grant-writer and extended essay advisor, passed away at home after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Many of us knew her as an English teacher, English department head, and Assistant Principal in the days before the IB. She also founded and worked extensively on literary projects in recent years including the Sturgis Soundings, a literary review produced with librarian Marion Weeks, and The Sturgian, a literary journal of student creative writing and art work produced with English teacher and alumna Alicia Fenney. Gretchen's contributions are far and wide. You cannot throw a stone at Sturgis without it touching someone who is affected by Gretchen's contributions at Sturgis, either directly or indirectly. Our thoughts and prayers are with Gretchen’s family during this difficult time.

-10:30 a.m. Alumni meet with current Sturgis juniors at the First Baptist Church-Hyannis
-11:00 a.m. Alumni meet with current Sturgis seniors at the First Baptist Church-Hyannis
-11:45 a.m. Social hour and reconnecting at the First Baptist Church; pizza and drinks provided
Commencement / Reunion Weekend 2009
Friday 6/5 - Senior-Faculty / Senior-Alum / Faculty-Alum Slow-Pitch Softball and BBQ (sponsored by SPA) @ Mets Field, 2-5pm (Softball contenders RSVP: sturgisalum@gmail.com )
Saturday 6/6 - "Tour of Main Street" Pub Crawl (Karaoke anyone?)
1st stop: BBC @ 10pm (all alums welcome);
2nd stop: Fresh Ketch @ 11pm (21 and up);
3rd stop: Embargo @ 12am (21 and up);
4th stop: Columbos @ 1am (21 and up).
Sunday 6/7 - Informal luncheon @ BBC, 11:30am. Class of 2009 Commencemnt @ Hyannis Green, 2pm.

If anyone is interested in becoming a class representative for their graduation year, please let us know! Please email Anna Botsford (aheick@sturgischarterschool.org) or Alicia Fenney (afenney@sturgischarterschool.org). This would not be a huge commitment but would entail a bit of publicity work in getting the word out to graduates about reunions and alumni events. We need YOU in order to keep an alumni committee going. We are starting traditions now and building towards reunions! Give it some thought and let us know!
Memorial Services for Class of 2007 Alum Corey Dooling
As many of you already know, Corey Dooling, 2007 graduate of Sturgis was killed tragically in an automobile accident on Monday evening, March 30th.
There will be a wake on Friday, April 3 from 5-8 pm @John Lawrence Funeral Home in Marstons Mills.
The Funeral service will be Saturday, April 4 11am @ St. Mary's on 6A in West Barnstable.
Any offerings of memories are welcome to be brought to Sturgis in room 207A
Welcome!
We're so thrilled to have the SAA website up and running after months of preparation. The website is a work in progress and suggestions are always encouraged. If there's one thing I think we've all learned from being at Sturgis, it's that if you want something done, you've got to start it yourself!
What makes our association so special is our youth and flexibility. Where other alumni associations might have boring reunions, we can be creative and have fun. If you want a dance instead of cocktail hour or sit down dinner for your 5-year reunion, become or nominate a chair! If you've got a great blog thread you'd love to share, pass it on and we'll get you set up! We're here to make this website and association work for you and we look forward to many more Sturgis memories.

Bi-Annual Reunion Party - 12/19
Due to the snow storm, the bi-annual reunion party was canceled. Check back for info on our next event, during commencement weekend, 2009!
Annual Pizza Party - 12/23
The annual senior-alum pizza party was a huge success! The class of 2009 had the opportunity to hear from Sturgis's most recent grads about life beyond high school in the informal discussion facilitated by Executive Director Mr. Hieser. There were even some old faces; several alums from the ancient second graduating class made an appearance!
